Design/Get Involved
The following steps will be taken to make sure your feedback will help to inform the detailed design guideline and help us to ensure that we plan in a way that considers community wants and needs:

Detailed Design Guidance
The design team has prepared a Detailed Design Guidance, which will set out the spatial rules for the detailed design guidance for how development comes forward in the new Village. This uses information gathered during the co-design consultation and guidelines set out in the draft Framework Masterplan Document.

Co-Design: May – August 2020 (complete)
In this stage, the team asked for your views through online events, surveys, and getting young people involved in home-working tasks. The consultation lasted from May-August 2020 and was the first public consultation for Dunton Hills for the Council. The used your feedback to create the draft Detailed Design Guidance. The summary of co-design consultation feedback can be found here.

Formal Public Consultation:
The draft Detailed Design Guidance document has been completed, thanks to your input in the co-design consultation. It is currently on public consultation and is available for commenting. We hope that you will be able to see where your feedback through co-design has been considered in the draft document. Have your say by getting involved in our consultation activities here.

Response to Consultation Feedback: Summer 2021 We are here now
The design team will then incorporate your comments and suggestions to the Detailed Design Guidance for finalisation. A summary report of the consultation will also be published.

Finalisation of the Detailed Design Guidance Document: Summer 2021
The Detailed Design Guidance document will then be finalised by the Council and will be used as a guideline for future development at Dunton Hills Garden Village.

The formal consultation for Dunton Hills Garden Village’s draft Supplementary Planning Guidance and draft Framework Masterplan Document has now closed.  The documents are still available to view here.  The consultation responses that have been received will be processed and it is intended that a final draft SPD will in due course be put forward for adoption to the Council’s Policy, Resources and Economic Development Committee.

Young People
We have been working with local young people through our Dunton Hills Garden Village Youth Programme to better understand what they would like to see at Dunton Hills Garden Village in the future. It is important to get an understanding to all parts of the population when building a new community, not just adults.

Previously we have done site visits, school workshops and many presentations with our local schools. More recently we worked with the University of Birmingham over three workshop days to better understand the wants and needs of young people.

We are continuing our engagement with young people as we delve into the detail of Dunton Hills Garden Village and we need your help to design it!
